Palki Khana - Udaipur - 3.5/5

Located in the heart of the City Palace in Udaipur this place is slightly expensive. But since there aren't many decent places to eat around so one just has to come here. I was travelling to Udaipur some time back and while sightseeing I was hungry. Well, don't blame me, I am always hungry since Palki Khana was the only place we spotted inside the premises of the City Palace we hopped in.

The ambiance is decent with inside and alfresco seating. There are limited covers however and the menu offers limited options as well. So we stuck to ordering a Ham sandwich and a Mumbaiya grilled Sandwich. The staff is very courteous since the restaurant happens to be close to 2 five star properties including the Lake Palace. The service is pretty Swift.

The food arrived on time and I loved what I ate. The Ham sandwich was like a dream come true and the mumbaiya veg sandwich was fine too. All in all a decent place to visit in Udaipur.

Nutritious Nation Gurgaon - 4/5

I can't help raving about this place. By far this is the best place selling low-cal healthy food. Well all the items on their menu are not low cal but are nutritious very true to their name. When I had Browsed their menu online, I thought they were expensive, but trust me this is one of the few places where you truly get your money's full worth.

Sad that they do not offer a dine in and are a delivery only place, but their order is taken as swiftly as the food arrives at your doorstep. I have now ordered food about 4-5 times from here and I have never been disappointed.

What I like about them is that the portions are not miserly. If its a chicken salad, it will be loaded with chicken. If its a tofu / Paneer salad it will be generously filled with Paneer / Tofu. You feel you are sitting and ordering food in America, because the portion sizes and food quality is at par with USA, by which I mean is great. Only one recommendation that they must not wrap their veg grilled sandwiches in Foil / Paper because they BECOME SLIGHTLY SOGGY.

I found them online on food panda and this is the only place that I discovered on Food Panda and I am satisfied. All in all a great place to order in and a place I recommend to one and all. I have ordered the below and I strongly recommend you do try my tried and tested food items that I loved.

Nutty Harvest Salad - Great Veg salad with a great choice of low cal dressings on offer. Huge portion size.

Cous Cous and Chick pea salad - I absolutely adore this veg salad. It is filling, healthy, nutritious and does not leave you hungry.

Peppy Paneer sandwich - A great sandwich and huge portion. You can order yogurt based dips / dressings with the salad.

Grilled Lamb Burger - Whoa! what a burger in Multi grain bread. Fabulous.

B.L. M.T - A fantastic gigantic veg sandwich which leaves you craving for more. Love the filling of Mushrooms

Crunchy Granola Berry Bowl - Its a nice and filling breakfast bowl. portion size though could be slightly more for the price.

The Beer Cafe - Sec - 50, Gurgaoin - 3/5

Well the winters aint over yet, but who can stop a beer lover from grabbing a jug with some peanuts. So there we were at the sector 50 Good Earth Shopping complex and we decided to have beer instead of some fresh Fruit Juice (I am sure that doesn't sound surprising). And even though foreign liquor and beer has become expensive in Gurgaon owing to the taxes , even that did not stop us. So we hopped in and asked for a stella on the tap along with some corn Bhel, Beer Battered Onion rings and a fresh lime soda.

The ambiance of this outlet is nice and is spread across two floors. Even though the seating on the Ist floor isn’t that comfortable, it solves the purpose nonetheless. The knick knacks with the beer on the menu are decently priced and there are a fair number of options. Service is pretty decent and so is the food. Since it was early Saturday evening the cafe wasn’t overflowing with people. The music was foot tapping just to set ones mood.

Then came the beer, the fresh lime and the food. The beer on the tap was fresh and frothy. The Corn Bhel however could do with slightly lesser peanuts, it tasted nice nevertheless. The fresh lime was sad! The beer battered onion rings were oily (don’t blame the cafe for that, the onion rings are supposed to be oily). They tasted fairly good too.

What was not so good was that if you take a look at the bill a mug of beer costed 1000 bucks plus taxes, which was a downer (blame the Haryana excise for that). All in all a fairly ok experience. Good news is that post March the excise on foreign liquor is expected to come down, may be I will visit again then.

Soul & Spice Company - Golf Course Road- Gurgaon - 4/5

Soul & Spice Company is a beautiful cafe in Cross point Mall. I absolutely adore the interiors especially the pictures of Street food you get across Old Delhi. There is stained glass windows, beautiful comfortable seating and some decent options on the menu and sweet service staff.

I was starving post I came out of a spa at cross point and wanted to have fresh juice. Ironically not many places sell freshly squeezed juice. I just looked up the menu online for this place and I was thrilled to find some healthy options including some fresh juice.

The menu has some nice Indian street food options and some curry and rolls and an all day breakfast menu. I liked the fact that the menu is crisp and has some great options.

I went in and ordered some fresh mixed fruit juice and a portion of Soya Mushroom Tikki. The order arrived pretty swiftly and both the juice and the Tikki were decent in portion size and top notch on taste and quality. The pricing is fairly decent too.

I feel so sad that I did not stay back for more food even though I wanted to. A place I will definitely come back for more. I strongly recommend you visit the place if you are in the mood for some good Indian food in great ambiance and nice service.
