Thalassa - The restaurant you cannot miss in Goa

Thalassa is a dream and its a reality at the same time. Romance personified. You sit here and you feel like a teenager who has just fallen in love. The place makes you a dreamer, a philosopher and yes touches the travelling foodie inside of you at a deeper level.

I know this place is all over the web as one of the must eat places in Goa. Well its famous and the most talked about place for nothing. It deserves more praise and more grapevine than it gets. It is undoubtedly the place you must hit when you are in Goa.

Located at the most secluded Vagator beach, Thalassa offers you a million dollar view of the Indian ocean at Goa. Sparking crystal clear ocean view clubbed with stunning scrumptious food is what Thalassa is all about. Well for me Thalassa is more about the view for me than the food. I was in Goa some time back and like anyone else me and my friends flocked at Thalassa to see what the fuss was all about only to realize all the fuss is oh so true.

The place is not very big and has been tastefully done in white. Everything you see around you is white. The service might get a bit slow since the place is overflooded with people all the time. Well please make advance reservations otherwise you might be disappointed. And you dont want to be sent back after you make all the effort to reach that far.

We sat down at a table overlooking the sea and oh my God the view was enchanting and breathtaking and oh so gorgeous. Thalassa is about greek food and well this kind of food is definitely greek to most of us. Yet it is soul-food for some reason. Simple every day ingredients that come up together to make one delicious dish which turns out to be a knock out.

I will strongly recommend the fried feta in pastry. The Sangria is well worth a pass. The mix grill and fried Calamari is nice too. The meal at Thalassa is well an experience you will cherish and remember very fondly when you look back at your Goa Trip. The food is reasonably priced and so are the drinks, the portions are ok and well the meal is a complete package. You want to keep sitting there for hours staring at the sea, never wanting to go back to your dull mundane life.

So guys if you are in Goa and looking for the complete meal experience this is the place you want to come.

Hotel Sri Kamatchi Puducherry - For the best regional Cuisine in Pondicherry

I will fall short of words if I begin to pen down my amazing experience at Hotel Sri Kamatchi. Definitely one of my best & most soul satisfying meals of all times.

Hotel Sri Kamatchi today runs 3 outlets in Puducherry and believe me if you like sea food or non vegetarian in any form you will fall in love with this place. Don't go by the ambiance. The ambiance is like any Tamil eatery - plain and simple, with cast iron tables and chairs and unpolished staff. But the food absolutely makes up for everything else.

The menu is plain and simple. 2 pages of laminated coloured menu card. We ordered the much talked about chicken kamatchi, Prawn Kamatchi, chicken 65, Prawn 65, Appams, Prawn Biryani and fish curry. The service is very very swift. You will surprised to see food arriving at a lightening fast speed.

The food is oh so delicious, so scrumptious and oh so inexpensive. The pricing and portions are just perfect too. All dishes were great. I strongly recommend the chicken kamatchi, the prawn kamatchi and the prawn biryani.

For so much food the bill was hardly any amount. Guys, I strongly recommend you visit this place if and when you visit Pondicherry.

Cafe Des Arts - Puducherry - Over rated

The Cafe is located in the main city center area or what is called the white town area in the French colony of Pondicherry. Since this place was one of the most talked about places in Pondicherry I decided to pay them a visit for breakfast. It did take us a while to find ourselves a place to sit.

The cafe has a pretty homely, slightly amateurish ambiance. The furniture is not restaurant standard. The staff is courteous though, but a little rough around the edges. The cafe is owned and run by a foreigner who also has a local ass the co-owner. The menu seems quite elaborate but what you picture while reading the menu doesn't come to life on your table. The portions do not compliment the pricing. Only the crepes seem to be worth what you are paying for them.

We couldn't find a place to sit inside so we had to sit outside in the sun. Mind you that mornings even in the month of October can get hot and sitting in the sun is not a very nice idea.

We placed the order for a Chicken Mayonnaise french Baguette, ham and cheese sandwich, buttered croissant and a waffle with ice cream. It took them quite a while for sending the food on our table. I should say the presentation was very amateurish and absolutely not restaurant standard. I am sure you would agree with me when you take a look at the pictures. The Ham sandwich tasted average what you would have at home. The chicken mayo baguette was sad. The croissant was fresh and the waffle was above average.it.

If I want to have homely food in a restaurant why would I pay such a price for it? I'd rather sit at home and cook for myself. The food left was dissatisfied and I could still feel a void in my dissatisfied gut. One place I will certainly not recommend. If you ought to visit, visit without expectations and you may just come out with an average experience.
