Oh! Calcutta, Cyber Hub - Sam says - Khub Bhalo :) - 3/5

Khub Bhalo (very good) and মহান খাদ্য (means great food in bengali). Well I could sum up my food experience at OMG Oh Calcutta in only these two words. I am a freak for great food, and this place offers just that. But trust me, another place called Hi Kolkata in Dwarka is better.

I have absolutely no words to describe the awesome Lunch Buffet I had at Oh! Calcutta in Cyber Hub few days back.

I was thrilled when they opened their doors closer to my place of work at DLF Cyber Hub and I was fishing for a opportunity to go and eat. And yes well, it was april and most of us had got hikes and promotions so one colleague wanted to treat us for her promotion and hike and she took us to Oh! Calcutta.

Well, Lunches can be really a busy busy affair when dining in cyber hub in weekdays, but nonetheless we were lucky to find seating and we grabbed a few chairs and without any second thoughts stormed at the buffet. Ambiance is cute and the buffet is quite a gala affair.

Man! this buffet has something for every body. An a la carte must have is aaloo posto with luchi, my all time simple & favorite items. I can say without a doubt that this place has দিল্লি সেরা বাংলা খাবার (best bangla food in delhi/Ncr)

This is what we had: -

>Luchi and Shorshe Maach - Well, mustard fish with Luchi happens to be my hot favourite, even though I would have preferred kosha mansho, nonetheless the fish was good
> Prawns and Butter Chicken - well even though butter chicken is not bengali, the one at the buffet was quite nice
> Salad Bar - was super
> Veggie items were Bhindi Bhaja, Dal and kundroo aaloo, which were decent
> Dessert was Roshogulla, malpua, ice cream and Payesh. Payesh / Kheer was the best I ever had. The added Palm sugar or may be they add jaggery really makes it a rockstar.

A nice place to visit with friends and family

K & K - Mini Bukhara@ ITC Welcome Hotel Dwarka - 3.5/5

Being an ex-ITC Hotel's employee myself and having savored delightful food at Bukhara and Dum Pukhkt a multiple number of times, I was excited when Welcom Hotel opened its doors to public some time back. I was excited that I can visit the replica of Bukhara – K & K in the heart of dwarka, very close to where I Stay and enjoy the menu of Bukhara the ITC Hotels award winning fine dining cuisine brand, having a menu prepared by the famous master chef Imtiaz Qureshi – A menu similar to the food served in royal courts of the Moughals. The menu has dishes that use varied cooking techniques from Presenting Dum cooking in handi’s, tandoor’s, angeethi’s and tawa’s, all these all set to make your meal a unique experience. Imtiaz Qureshi has been responsible for many wondrous creations at the ITC group of hotel restaurants & you may go to any Dum Pukht, Bukhara, Peshawar or Kebabs & Kurries — the taste of the dishes won’t change. Bukhara, which is still running over 35 years later with his original menu of North-West Frontier Province cuisine.
K & K at Welcom hotel in Dwarka is very prominently located, it is a Magnificent restaurant in a magnificent hotel. With dim lights and small lamps at the entrance, all make up for a very enchanting decor. A tasteful ambience clubbed with great service ensure that you are up for a great meal experience. Very good menu with some great dishes of the North west frontier cuisine and various set options to cater for everyone’s need. The ambience is great, uniquely designed & very welcoming. The service is very spotless, just as one would expect from a 5 star category hotel. However the food was just good. I was expecting some excellent food and got good food. Prices are a little heavy on ones pocket, but well, if you are dining at a 5 star restaurant, you should not be complaining. Coming to what we ate:-
  • Machli Tikka- Marinated sole fish Chunks, with a dash of Mustard oil, roasted to a perfect amber colour. This was simply a wow fish Tikka, so tender, so soft and mushy, and the marination of the spices made it super. My rating 4/5
  • Bermuda Triangle- My Mocktail with Orange juice, Strawberry crush, gingerale and soda
  • Murgh Angaar - Great boneless tikka's, marinated in spices, ginger- garlic, mace, fenugreek leaves, drizzled with lemon juice on top, is a delight to ones senses. You will love the tender kebab's and the taste of the masala's in your mouth. My rating 4/5
  • Dal Bukhara - This needs no introduction, with a drizzle of butter on top, this was just as I had thought - divine - My rating 5/5
  • Murgh Handi Qorma - Cooked with the famous Galauti masala - Lazat- e- Tam, this failed to impress me. The gravy had a funny taste, slight sweetish, not for me. My rating 2/5
  • Burrhani Gosht - Garam masala, yoghurt and garlic flavoured lamb, that tastes divine with a varqi paratha. Amazingly well spiced and great flavour. My rating 4/5
  • Gosht Dum Pukht Biryani - The baap of all Biryani's with tender chunks of Mutton that melt in your mouth and the spices and the aroma of Basmati rice and enough to make yo drool. My rating 4/5
  • Zauq- E- Shahi- Chenna Gulab Jamuns topped with Rabdi and Silver varq is a nice twist to the traditional gulab jamuns. Perfectly sweet, without an overdose of sweeetness. My rating 3.5/5
Over all A great satisfying meal.

L' Opera - Flashy yet a fun Bakery :) 3.5/5

Flashy! I thought when I saw the bakery while I was parking my car just outside. This bakery's first impression for anyone who is a first time visitor would be that of a very upmarket, upscale and high class bakery cum café.

I was quite intrigued to note that they run around 4 outlets across the city and this one in Khan market is quite prominently located. There aren't many bakeries in or around Khan market with the exception of a Sugar and spice in the same market so they sort of get a competitive edge.

I would say that it would be completely unjust to compare Lópera to Sugar and Spice purely due to the quality of products and the ambience of this café cum bakery. They have small seating space so you can grab your muffin or your sandwich and read a book while sipping your coffee and munching your muffin or binging on to your sandwich.

I was in Khan market 2 days back when my eyes were locked onto a very super attractive show window of this bakery. Nicely decorated colourful macroons, chocolate cakes; oh lord! I was melting away to glory imagining the tastes of these beauties. As I entered I was welcomed to quite a sight of French hearts, and lemon tarts and fresh bread loafs, and meringues, and pastries, and tea cakes and biscuits, cakes and yummilicious savory items - sandwiches, chicken quiches, tapas and canapés. Quite a unique array of fresh bakes unlike most bakeries.

I chose to treat myself to a parma ham sandwich and a chocolate wrapped pastry as you can see in the pictures. The Ham sandwich was so so fresh and so great in taste with some cheese, some cucumber and some fresh lettuce - Bingo! The chocolate wrap pastry had a nice biscuit crumb base and a creamy gooey chocolate centre and a nice semi hard chocolate coating from outside. Great! Well I would kind of deduct the half point because I thought one slice of pastry for 245/- bucks was a little too heavy on my pocket. Otherwise this place simply is going up my charts of one of the city's best bakeries.
