Sodabottleopenerwala - Khan Market, New Delhi - 4/5

I was more than thrilled when SBOW opened its doors to Dilliwala's in Cyber Hub Gurgaon around a year ago. And well, it wasnt technically the dilliwala's they were catering to. You may wonder why, but that's true. That's because, I know loads of Dilli wala's who
still have been deprived of even a single visit of this unique cafe even though this place in Gurgaon is about a year old. Call it sheer laziness on their part, or simply the geographical distance that kept them distant to the taste of the parsi cuisine.

And well, Good news Dilli wala's, SBOW has opened its doors for you and me in the heart of Khan Market, and yes its official, SBOW's Ist outlet in Delhi, is all set to woo you.

Making the dying  Irani / Parsi cuisine a super hit among-st us, the credit goes to the A.D Singh Group. A cuisine alien to Delhi / NCR this place has kind of carved a niche in our hearts and guts and this multi award winning contemporary parsi / Irani cafe is a rock star amongst Foodies of all Genre's.

Well the credit for planning the unique modern yet traditional Parsi interiors goes to Mr Singh's multi-talented wife. With its traditional Parsi / Irani Ambiance, furniture, fixtures on the walls, its fun to sit and enjoy the all time favorite Parsi Fare. You simply get blown away by the retro-Irani interiors, the sofa's, the printed floor Tiles and the Parsi one liners put up on the walls. And of course we love the trademark signage of a bottle opener which is so unique to SBOW. SBOW is a very comfy, busy, noisy cafe that you would love to visit. With Glass jars filled with candies and cookies and biscuits and even parle poppins, on the counters, take you down the memory lane to your childhood. And all it does to you is make your fingers ache with an itch to dig in.

The Menu is so catchy and pretty that you want to carry it home and frame it and put it on your living room wall. Menu is simple, crisp and covers almost all famous Parsi / Irani dishes. Even though the food isnt the flashy, fine dining kind, yet for some reason its soulfood that strikes a chord deep within you. And whats even more unique is the way they serve the food  in the signature aluminium ware. Be it the berry pulao, or the Murghi na Farcha or the Keema Pao, everything including the Lagan nu custard is served in Alluminium dishes, ensuring the look and feel of a traditional Irani cafe.

The busy busy young and beautiful Lady chef Anahita and her team have done a fab job not only in hand crafting the menu, but also in the unique presentation and plating of the dishes. Full marks Kitchen team! Service is spotless, prompt and servers are sweetest and courteous.

So here Sam was at the launch of this unique experience the world calls Sodabottleopenerwala and well, needless to say, yet again it was quite an affair to remember. And the who's who of the city made it here on SBOW''s red letter day. Great aroma and great food was taking rounds and one could clearly see everyone drooling over what ever it is they were eating. It was a gala celebration of good food in a great multifaceted atmosphere. Everyone was in awe and full of praises for the food, the drinks and the restaurant on the whole.

So this is what we had and enjoyed -

Masala Cola– Refreshing and delightful.

Sekanjebin - Shikanji, sounds familiar? But let me tell you this one comes with a parsi twist. contains fresh jaggery and loads of fresh mint makes it a helluva refreshing drink.

Raspberry Soda - The love of my life. Greatly refreshing, cant get enough of it.

Baba ji nu Thullu – Umm! Nice and made us all smile later for obvious reasons. Super super drink.

Bhendi bazaar Sheek Paratha– Juicy succulent kebab on top of miniature paratha’s. What a delight to have. A must have

Vada Pao – The freshly baked in house buns just enhance the taste of the masala vada with the green chilli. What a brilliantly tasting Vada Pao. A must have again

The Club sandwich- I am allergic to egg, so did not have it, my husband had it and loved it.

Keema Baida roti – Wow! Crisp, loved the filling and the coriander chutney went well with it.

Marghi na Farcha – Definitely better than the one I had at SBOW cyber hub. Loved the soft batter fried chicken. Full marks

Otters Club Breakfast aaloo Paratha - Yumm, crisp, and spot on.

Veg Baida Roti – Nice as well! Loved it

Spicy Mushrooms on Khari – The Mushrooms with cheese on top of a flaky pastry, was an interesting twist. Loved it.

Bun Muska – soft, mushy in house freshly baked buns with maska. Ah! Blissful. And the Kissan Jam on top, made me weak in my knees. Food-gasm!

Maska Pao – Delightfully yummm.

Veg and Mutton Berry Pulao - Yes I tasted them both and I loved them in Cyber hub and I loved them here too. I cant begin to explain how the berrries and cashews on top make it super and obvious enhance the presentation. Its a pretty beautiful sight on a plate. It has a great flavour, I love the tomatoes and other tiny chunks of veggies in it and in the mutton berry pulao, let me tell you people the meat is soft and juicy and tender as hell and oh it melted in my mouth. Berry Pulao veg or mutton, is a dish you have to try

Tareli Machhi – Nice soft batter fried fish, stole my heart.

Spicy Mutton Roast Masala – Spicy, Parsi style lamb chops, rock on!! And yes spot on!!

Dhansak – What Butter Chicken is to Punjabi’s, Dhansak is to Parsi’s. Loved the way Dhansak was served in a Tiffin box, with Rice topped with caramelized fried onions, Kachumber salad and Dhansak. The gravy has a blend of Pumplin, Lentil and some veggies. The gravy has a unique blend of ingredients and the awesome thing is that no single ingredient is overpowering in flavor and the gravy is mild, flavourful and fantastic. Undoubtedly a must have.

Five star brownie. – Soft mushy yummm brownie. Better than most I have had!! A must have at SBOW.

Apple pie with custard – My husband loved it. And the custard complemented this very well.

Toblerone Mousse - Loved the presentation and the fact that this is an eggless mouse. The creaminess is to die for and the presentation is so appealing that you simply drool by the very look of it.

Guys, even though you would have visited them at Cyber hub , you have to visit Khan Market too; you dont know what your missing, till you have eaten here for yourself. This place tops my "Must eat here" list. This place should be on your things to do list this weekend!
