Fat Burger - Enters India - 3.5/5

2014 saw the debut of international Burger chains in India. There was the very well known Burger king and then there was Fat Burger. Fat Burger, the American burger chain, debuted in Indian market with its flagship outlet in Cyber Hub, Gurgaon in August 2014. Having started way back in 1947 in California, they have definitely come a long way.

The company has a huge fan following in more than 150 locations world wide. And obviously they have Initialized their menu dominating it with more lamb and chicken variants than beef and pork. Several new menu items have been introduced by them in India with the use of traditional Indian spices like the Amritsari Onion Rings.

But honest to God confession - I haven't been able to judge or find out why they are called Fat Burger. But that's not important as long as they taste great. The cyber hub outlet is located on the Ist floor just above Sodabottleopenerwala and you can see their bright yellow, red and black signage from a great distance. The outlet is huge and has a decent capacity and a large number of covers with pictures signifying their reasons of international glory. Like most fast food chains they have almost an open kitchen and you can see what's going on behind the show. The place has a nice warm vibe to it and is a delight for any burger lover.

The menu has loads of options for burgers. The India menu also has a vast variety of vegetarian options. What's intriguing however is the inclusion of 3 tenderloin burgers on the menu, making tenderloin loves like me a big big reason to be happy. There are loads of their famous sides on the menu too, like the Smokey Mountain Nachos or some salads or the much talked about Chicken wings.

The service is quite prompt and friendly. The cheerful staff gives you a reason to come back. The burgers are nice. They may not be like really really oh Wow great but they are nice. The tenderloin is a good burger or should I say a "no frills attached" burger. The meat is procured locally and is grilled to your preferred level of doneness, just as you would like. The patty is not stingily thin but is quite pleasantly thick and chunky. The best part is that the patty is of good quality and does not break while you eat it but is rather juicy and cooked to perfection. Even the quality of bun is nice, it does the bun disintegrate while you are eating it.

Now coming to the test of taste, this is what we had and thoroughly enjoyed--

  • Smokey Mountain Nachos - Well they say their Tortilla Chips are stone ground and covered with Jalapeneo's Tomato salsa and cheese. Man they were good. A must have at Fatburger. My rating 4/5
  • The Zesty (Veg) Burger - A lemon flavoured soya patty with citrus mayo, garlic mayo and veggies in a bun. The patty was nice, but should have been crispier, as it started to beak. My rating - 3/5
  • The Shroom - A great tenderloin burger with sauteed mushrooms and melted swiss cheese with mustard and mayo, the burger just almost enters tenderloin heaven. Juicy patty and quite meaty and chunky. My rating 3.5/5
Guys if you are looking at a gourmet burger experience, this place is definitely worth a try
