Mr. D - Deliciouness Delivered now in GK-2- 4.5/5

I was first introduced to Mr. D while I used to work in GK-1 and we used to order in food from their East of Kailash outlet and I was a big big fan. I recently had the opportunity to visit my cousin who lives in GK-2 and since we landed up unannounced, she asked us to stay back for dinner.

We were contemplating between ordering a Dominos or from near by outlets, and I decided that we must check out the web and find out where to order from. That's when I found out that Mr. D has opened another outlet in GK-2. I wasuper thrilled.

I called the mentioned numbers and since we were 8 of us to eat we ordered loads and loads of food. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Farm house Pizza for the kids, Paneer Tikka and Murgh Malai Tikka for the men who wanted to enjoy some drinks before Dinner, Pita pocket Shawarma for me, Pasta and chicken Pepper steak too.

At one point I thought we had over ordered. But you know when the food is great, yummy and scrumptious you are bound to over eat and finish, because I don't believe in wasting great food.

Mr. D is a very professionally run and a well maintained and organized set up. They have a successful delivery model already based out of East of Kailash and people living around and having their food for more than 2 years can swear by the great food they serve. The credit for the success goes to the dedicated owner who I hear is a catering college graduate himself and he personally looks into every order that goes out of the premises for delivery and ensures everything is in order.

Food is delivered absolutely steaming hot and fresh at your doorstep in a very contemporary, neat packaging that ensures even your pizza's and pasta's are steaming hot as you take your first bite.

The delivery is pretty quick well within the specified time frame and prices are very pocket friendly. What's even more commendable is that they have maintained consistency in the taste and quality of the food.

Food is beyond doubt one of the best any home delivery outlet can bring you. Portions are sufficient, and they go the extra mile by running promotional offers in between. Coming down to taste, what can I say beyond doubt some absolutely great food I have had in a long long time home delivered to us.

Chicken Biryani

Chicken Biryani was a rockstar, with great flavour of the basmati rice that made my day. My rating 4.5/5

Farm House Pizza

Mix Meat Pizza

Farm house Pizza and Mix Meat Pizza's - You will not believe that the pizza's are not straight from Italy because they are truly Italian in the way the thin crust base, the generous toppings and the world class mozarella is sprinkled on top. The packaging ensures they are piping hot. Pizza's are better than domino's without a doubt. My rating 4.5/5.

Paneer Tikka

Murgh Malai Tikka

The Paneer Tikka and the Murgh Malai tikka's were juicy, succulent and oh so creamy. Just too good to explain in words. My rating 4.5/5 again.

Veg Pita Pocket shawarma
My first time having a Pita Pocket Shawarma, and I was sold. Great bread and an absolute great filling. What a world class Pita pocket. My rating 4/5

Garlic Bread with Cheese
Absolute delight to have some freshly baked Garlic bread with some generous cheese. My rating 4/5

The Veg Pasta in White sauce was super too. Nice veggies and great sausy pasta. My rating 4/5

Sanskriiti - DLF Cyber City - 3/5 - Average Food at high Prices

Sanskriiti is a one stop shop for North Indian, South Indian and Thali's at the DLF Cyber city Food court. I am running out of the number of times me and my colleagues from work have eaten here. This happens to be the usual lunch hangout for all of us. Located very conveniently near my work place, I like the simple, non flashy food that they serve. It is a huge stall at the food court and they not only cater to the dosa, idli vada eating junta, but also to the biryani eating, the Thali eating and Dal makhani Shahi Paneer eating Junta.

South Indian food happens to be his forte and he does specialize in making the best available idli, dosa, vada sambhar at the food court. his Biryani is decent. But Thali happens to be hottest selling item, and my colleagues also say and I agree with them that his food somehow tastes quite homely. Ok, you may think I am exaggerating. Ok, let me sugar coat this then - Their food tastes like the food our mom's cook when someone is invited over. Its simple home cooked food, yet when mom makes it for parties, its tastier than the usual food. Thats what I can say about their food.

Dal makhani, Shahi Paneer, mix veg, Dosa and Pulao are hit amongst us office going junta. So is the dosa. What I personally like at this place is the biryani, and malabari paratha and Paneer Chettinaad

However I would still say their food is little above average for the price they offer.

Jumbo King Gurgaon - Sad ! 2/5

Hey Sam lovers and Vada Pav lovers I have bad news for you. Only the name is Jumbo, but what they sell is absolutely sad. As if one bad Vada pao place in delhi wasnt enough - Goli, that another bad vada pao place had to open up in the city.

HAving lived in Mumbai for 2 years, I know a vada pao in and out, and let me tell you peoples what Goli sold and now what Jumbo king is selling is no where near an original vada pao. Just selling a potato cutlet in a bun doesnt make it a vada pao.

You ought to visit Cafe Wanderlust in DLF Galleria and taste the goodness yourself and you would know what a vada pao actually tastes like.

This outlet is close to the DLF Ph 3 Rapid metro station and is just on the Ist floor as you climb up to board the metro.

Most of the stuff on the menu is never available like the jumbosa or the so called chinese vada pao's.

Only the name happens to be jumbo king, but the stuff is terrible. We ordered a regular jumbo king and a butter grilled jumbo king. The pictures may look mouth watering but trust me the Vada Pavs are BAD. The so called potato cutlet inside the pao / bun is raw and not even fried till the point it gets the crunch or its crispiness.

Sam says Avoid; you are up for a bad time.

SAM ENJOYING world cuisine@ ENGLISH TADKA, DELHI - 3.5/5

i have been dying to write this review ever since I returned home after this fabulous elaborate luncheon at the English Tadka yesterday. Honest to the core of my heart confession - I am in love with this place. Places like this prove just one simple point that great a meal is not only about great tasting food or about the great place that you go to, to eat the great food. But it is about the entire meal experience, its about the tireless effort of the entire F&B and the kitchen staff to make that meal personalized and a memorable experience for you. And that is what English Tadka for me was all about - A complete fine dining meal experience.

It was just close family over Lunch that we decided to precede our afternoon matinee movie show with a fabulous and elaborate Lunch to celebrate the occasion. We had to catch the movie at the wave cinemas Rajouri Garden so we were at ET in the same mall. Located on the first floor, the place is quite tastefully done. The ambience and the complete feel of the place is very striking, even though they could work a bit more on the ambiance. The Elaborate bar counter is located on the left hand corner of the restaurant which is about a 50 cover restaurant. I simply loved the framed movie posters on the walls giving the place a great Bollywood feel.

Full marks for welcoming us with a cold towel. And then the restaurant manager came and introduced himself and assured us that he is around if we needed anything. We started with drinks, and amongst other drinks we ordered virgin mojito and I ordered an apple Martini. The minute I sipped the martini garnished with a lemon swirl, I was in love. Love with my martini. Great in taste, balanced amount of alcohol and the green apple concentrate. Bingo!

Starters arrived with the bruschetta. The chef came and recommended we try the bruschetta with a dash of olive oil on top. Oh my god! The dash of olive oil and the basil on the toasted bread was just divine. I was quite impressed when chef told us that they bake their own bread. Then came the stuffed mushrooms that were oozing with melted cheese. I have no words to describe the pleasure of eating these cheezy jewels. A must try at this restaurant.

Vegetable drumsticks had a great touch of being fried with a lemon grass stick that gives it the mild flavour of lemon grass. Chef Lall absolutely love your detailing in the recipes. The Mutton Galawati Kebab had a special spice called "Lazzat-e-Tam", which I might add does definitely add the great flavour to the galawati. Although one recommendation here. Galawati could have been softer. I am so used to having the Galawti kebab melt in my mouth.

The mutton Gola Kebab was simply super, a great no frills attached, non flashy tasty to the core Kebab. Must have again. The mains we had had a mix of cuisines of what this place is actually about - European, Oriental and Indian.

The Fettuccini farmhouse was simply a delight. So perfect, so subtle, so delicate in flavour. The best fettuccini I have ever had. I just loved the sauce, so rich, so creamy, truly authentic. I could taste the fabulous taste of the olive oil in the Fettuccini. The noodles really complemented the Tofu in Peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was a very different great touch to this oriental dish.

Indian mains stole the show. Laal Maas with roti was simply lip smacking. So was the Paneer Chole with rice, a very different twist to the chole. We were so stuffed by the end of the meal but still we went ahead with the chefs recommendations and had my all favourite blueberry cheese cake. I loved the berry compote on top and the cheese cake was unlike the many average ones I have had in Delhi. This one was what I will call a divine cheese cake, above all, above the best of the best. Another interesting item I had was the Gulukand Kulfi, my god! a fantastic concept, and the gulukand just enhances the flavour of the kulfi. The chef also recommended rice aur khajoor ki Kheer and said the kheer is cooked with honey. I can beyond doubt say that it was the best Kheer ever, the dates had certainly added great flavour to it.

I am so floored by the service staff's efficiency, and such great service and hospitality that I felt I was at a private party. I couldn't believe the chef took out time and explained what went into each dish. Hats off for such an elaborate 3 cuisine menu.

Final verdict:--

Bruschetta - 4.75/5 (The basil and the dash of olive oil really worked for my palate)

Stuffed Mushrooms - 5/5 (freshly made crumbs that coated the mushrooms and the cheese just did the trick)

Vegetable Drum sticks - 3.5/5 (the extra flavour of the drumsticks enhanced this creative item)

Mutton Galawati - 3.5/5 (Lazzat E Tam did add the flavour, but could be slightly softer)

Mutton Gola Kebab - 4/5 (Great in taste and flavoursome)

Fettuccini - 5/5 (great sauce, great pasta, fab olive oil)

Tofu in peanut sauce - 3.5/5 (great sauce)

Laal Maas - 3.5/5 (Would recommend a boneless version too, great flavorful gravy)

Paneer chole - 4/5 (Thick gravy, and the paneer as the twist in taste was great)

Blueberry cheese cake - 4/5 (great berry compote)

Gulukand Kulfi - 4.5/5 (I regret not having it before in my lifetime, I am taking some home next time)

Khajoor ki Kheer - 4/5 (Loved the presentation of saffron sprig on top)

All in all a very memorable Lunch and ET will always be special to me for the special meal I had at this special place where great personalised service truly enhances your meal experience. You have to try it to believe it. So what are you waiting for?
