Gyms Kook Xpress, Gurgaon - 2.5/5

Either I was fooled by the high Zomato rating or I did not order the right things. Ordered from Food panda and whatever I got made me realise every bit of the food was not 1% worth the dime spent.

I ordered from World in a Box last week and was pleasantly surprised by both the quality and quantity of food and the fact that they were not trying to cut corners for maximizing their margins. Not sure if I can say that about this place.

Even though the menu seemed pretty promising I usually keep my lunch very light and stuck to ordering a salad and a smoothie. Order did arrive well within the promised time frame in neat packaging and also came at a decent pricing but the quality was a bit of an issue here vis a vis price.

I ordered a chicken ceaser Salad and an anti oxidise it smoothie. Well the consistency of the smoothie was something I would refer to as Rooafzha mixed with milk or a rose flavoured Lassi and it seemed that their entire definition of a smoothie is completely wrong. There were not even enough berries to support the consistency so look cutting corners you see.

Now the Chicken ceaser salad was the only saving grace. It was decent and thankfully the dressing came separately and even though I would have liked some more quantity in the salad and the chicken chunks, the salad wasn't bad taste-wise nonetheless.

Would I order again? May be, May be not, Or may be I might try something else on the menu, but not sure if the risk would be worthwhile

OmO's Food Truck, Gurgaon - 4/5

Those who think food trucking is a recent phenomenon are mistaken. Don't you remember when as kids one would go to the neighbourhood Chinese can and enjoy Momo's and chowmein? Well I still love to re-live those memories and this weekend we went trucking to sec 29 gurgaon and passed the Famous Eggjactly food truck, something saucy, what the truck and others but since it was a cold winter night, we thought the weather calls for some Momo's and hot hot Thukpa  so we stopped by the OmO's Food truck which claims to serve a fusion of Chinese and Italian cuisines, even though I didn't find the menu quite Italian.

So we stuck with the mix veg and chicken steam Momo's and veg and Chicken Thukpa's respectively. Order arrived sooner than one can say OmO's and was piping hot. Loved the chicken Momo's and even though I would have liked little more salt in my Thukpa it was still filling and refreshing.

The highlight surprisingly were the mix veg Momo's. All my friends know the carnivore that I am and if I say that I liked the veg Momo's you ought to trust me. They had some nice carrots and even corn. The veg Thukpa had loads of veggies including broccoli.

For the price of 520 bucks the meal was superb.
The food has turned me into a Mahatma and I can predict the future and say that this Food truck will be my favourite hangout all winter.

Juicing for Health and Weight Loss with BOROSIL

Years ago, juicing was something that was associated only with the health-conscious.  One would identify the health freaks if he or she owned a juicer or drank fresh juice instead of canned regularly. But today the story is different. And I am happy that people today are much more aware of taking their bodies seriously and not over loading them with calories. Today people like me prefer juicing to lose weight, to cleanse and to consume more nutrients and antioxidants and vitamins.

In an era where we all lead stressful lives burning midnight oil in the corporate world and working 12-14 hours every day and where Pizza and pasta have become a daily consumable and health problems like cholesterol, fatty liver and even obesity are rampant. We have become people who hardly consume any fresh fruits or vegetables and prefer colas over fresh juices. Money and western imperialism is taking a toll on our health and our lifestyle is full of lethargy and zero physical activity. This is where a juicer perfectly fits your kitchen and to get your life back on track and to detox your body from the toxic cola’s and oily and cheesy food you consume.

Juicing is the perfect and easiest way to get more fruits and vegetables in your diet. Especially if you have kids who are not into fruits or veggies juicing them is the perfect way to ensure they get their nutrition. Juicing is a great technique to ensure that we and our loved ones consume a greater variety of fruits and vegetable than they may otherwise eat. Once your juice is ready, it's best to drink it instantly afresh to preserve its taste and quality.

Juicers are increasingly becoming a popular and a fast moving consumer electronic item sold online or in department stores. There are Juice bars that have popped up anywhere and everywhere in the city and cold pressed juice delivery service is increasingly gaining popularity as we speak. But trust me the cold pressed juices cost a fortune. I would rather hygienically make that juice myself at home without adulterating it with water or any condiments rather than order a meagre 100-200ml quantity. The comfort of a juicer also gives you the advantage to make juices which are not available in the market or delivered by most of the cold pressed juice outlets. You can make a bitter gourd or bottle gourd juice at home or mix a cucumber celery beetroot juice for a perfect detox or make a mint and watermelon combo. So the fact that I am trying to sell to you people is that “GET YOUR LIFE BACK ON TRACK” before you turn 40 and your cholesterol is giving you trouble and your old jeans stop fitting you. Consider this a wakeup call and move to a healthier lifestyle and pamper yourself by gifting yourself a Borosil Juicer – The quickest and easiest and of course your first milestone in making the healthier choice.

I was wondering if you go out with a friend or your partner for a meal including drinks the bill would easily shoot up to about 4000-5000 bucks and if one can spend so much on one meal, one can definitely shell much less money than that in buying oneself a Borosil Juicer for taking those inches off your waistline. And who doesn’t want to look good and feel good.

For me, weight has been a continuous life long struggle. When I was in college I was a basket ball player and used to work out and run every day and managed to keep those kilos off. But post a ligament injury in my ankle and on my knee the foodie in me overtook the workout frenzy girl and I piled on kilos after kilo’s and I wouldn’t fit into the best of my clothes and it started worrying me when my knees started paining while moving up and down the stairs that’s when I realized that my body is sounding an alarm and I need to do something about it. I have done everything from a VLCC to a dietician to protein shakes and because of my injury I cannot indulge in a rigorous gymming regime so I decided to take charge in my own hands and started watching what I ate and drank.

In the beginning I did order cold pressed juices from outside and only later did I realize that the taste seemed adulterated and that juices had a large bit of a water content. And I thought it wouldn’t pinch if I gifted myself a juicer. I went ahead with the compact Borosil Juicer,. Very user friendly a great scratch resistant stainless steel body, easy to clean and handle and makes some excellent juice, I have run out of the number of juice variants I have made from my juicer. My Borosil has become my one of my top most prized possessions. I has not only helped me shed loads of inches but also helped my husband lower his cholesterol levels. I give my husband fresh Amla, Karela and beetroot juice at regular intervals and it has really helped. Whenever I am on a detox diet I fill myself a bottle of fresh carrot and mint juice and carry it to work or make myself a glass of lauki juice in the morning which is Baba Ramdev’s secret recipe to weight loss.

I am a little surprised how much I enjoy juicing my way to a good health. Even though I mostly stick to vegetable juices, but even the fruit juices that my BOROSIL makes are bright and refreshing, like a sunny summer day. They not only taste great but and made me feel great about myself too.

Sam’s tips for juicing
If you are committed to march towards the good life, here are a few pointers to make the best juicing experience with your BOROSIL:
Ø  Focus on both fruits and veggies in your juice.

Ø  Add some mint or ginger or lemon for that extra zing in flavour.

Ø  Include apple and beetroot as they are one of the best miracle items nature has created

Ø  Include 1-2 root vegetables may be carrots or beet roots which are so full of antioxidants to make your skin glow and your hair shine.

Ø  You could also make a juice out of your leafy and other greens like a cucumber or celery or a broccoli or even mint

Ø  Consider adding back some pulp or vegetable fibre that is filtered out by the juicer. This will make your juice more filling and healthier.

World in a Box Gurgaon - 4.5/5

I want to sum up my experience with “World in a Box” in one word. “SUPERB”.

I found them online while ordering from Food panda and realised they have a zomato rating of 4 plus. Whoa! I thought they ought to be really good, considering they are a delivery only place minus any dine-in options. I am on a spree of giving my body a break from the usual oily and greasy food, so while browsing places that sell salads and sandwiches I was pleasantly surprised when my delivered box from WIB delivered beyond my expectations.

Let me tell you I am very choosy when it comes to salads so I stuck to ordering a low cal Kalorie 149 Salad and a an anti oxidant very berry smoothie. The order arrived well on time and man I was astonished to see a gigantic portion of my salad. And whoa the Smoothie was almost 1 litre. It made me so happy because I got more than what my money was worth. I loved the red wine dressing with my salad and loved that they had added spinach and mushrooms to it. Never found a salad so filling. I absolutely am in love with the delicious smoothie. So very very thick and creamy in greek yoghurt and not overloaded with sweetness. It was just perfect.

WIB is one place I realised that believes in delivering quality and not cutting corners to maximise profits

Guys, this is one place I will very very strongly recommend should you decide to give your body a break from the butter chicken and Cheese burst pizza’s. I can bet you will not be disappointed.

Fruit Inbox Gurgaon - 2.5/5

Years ago, juicing was something that was associated only with the health-conscious. But today the story is different. Today people like me prefer juicing to lose weight, to cleanse and to consume more nutrients and antioxidants and vitamins.

Juicing is the perfect and easiest way to get more fruits and vegetables in your diet. There are Juice bars that have popped up anywhere and everywhere in the city and cold pressed juice delivery service is increasingly gaining popularity as we speak. I was in the mood to order some fresh juice especially some hygienic and pocket friendly juice. So I looked up zomato and found the details of this place which is closer to where I work.

They took my order and I placed the order for some Beetroot and Orange juice and some watermelon juice. Order arrived within the promised time frame, but I realized that the pricing was a little steep considering that they deliver in very thin plastic containers. The beetroot and orange juice was delicious and the orange does lift the Beetroot juice to another level. But one tip you must consume this juice as soon ass you receive it as the orange based juices tend to become bitter if consumption is delayed. I did not like the watermelon juice. It was very watery. Not sure if it was adulterated or water was mixed in it.

I will definitely re-order the Beetroot orange juice in future and will skip the watermelon.

Vapour Grill, Gurgaon - 4/5

I was at the leisure Valley Food court in sec 29 Gurgaon recently wanting to spend an evening at the Vapour Bar Exchange on a Thursday evening, but destiny had other plans for me. Or should I say it was serendipity. On a Thursday evening Vapour Bar exchange was over crowded and we did not manage to get even a single table so disheartened as we were until their Manager recommended that incase we were interested in having some fresh Brews we could also head to their newly opened Grill on the Ist floor and I am glad that we made that choice.

I know I was apprehensive about the concept because I had fallen out of love with the table grill concept. There was a time when one would flock around Barbeque nation or Pirates of Grill to have their all you can eat Appetizer and Mains Buffet. But gradually one got tired of the concept and definitely wanted something new. Or maybe something else if not anything new. Then came the ancient barbeque which joined the herd and did not offer anything new. The Manager at the Vapour Grill explained that they were not the run of the mill all you can eat appetizer buffet kind of a place. And only as the evening unfolded did I realize that he was right. They are the only barbeque / Grill restaurant to have the following –

1.        Micro brewery
2.        Mongolian Grill
3.        Live Pizza Counter
4.        Live Pasta Counter
5.        Live dessert counter
6.        Live Indian street food counter

The ambiance of the vapour Grill is very colourful with murals on the walls and some Bollywood foot tapping music enhances your meal. Our server began the service on the table and decorated our table with some nice grills. My friends began enjoying the beer from their micro brewery. Out of the table grills I really enjoyed the Tandoori Prawns, Tangdi Kebab, Kasundi Fish, Paneer Tikka, Seekh Kebab and Crispy Potatoes. The batter coated corn was just mind blowing. Just that the Angaara Mushroom Tikka was a little spicy for me. I loved the Dahi Poori and the Cinnamon coated barbeque Pineapple was served in a very interesting way. I also enjoyed the fruit Punch and the Mojito.

Then we marched towards the Mongolian Grill and I asked the chef to mix and match loads of unique and rare meats that most restaurants in the city do not serve. I got a Mongolian mix of octopus, squid, chicken, quail and chicken sausage with some veggies in a spicy sauce. This grill was prepared and served on our table and let me tell you it was superb. I also enjoyed a portion of Penne in white sauce and some superb cheesy heart shaped Pizza.

The only thing I do not like about all you can eat buffets is that you tend to over eat. I was so full but still I could not resist tasting the mains. The Potato Koliwada and the methi fish were superb and both the veg and chicken Biryani’s were fabulous. I had to skip the other items and jump straight to dessert for obvious reasons. Enjoyed some piping hot Moong Dal Halwa, Gulab Jamun & jalebi, along with some Ras Malai. I still feel disheartened that I could not try so many items since I ended up over stuffing myself. I am definitely going back for a Brunch some day to do full justice to all items. And to top it all the pricing for such a whole lot of food is very very attractive. I would definitely give a two thumbs up to this place.
