To sum up my Drool kitchen experience in one sentence " Only the food is Drooling at Drool Kitchen".
I happened to visit Drool kitchen over this weekend only owing to the hyped reviews and some strong positive adjectives used by my fellow foodies to describe this place. But I must admit, that for a place in Dwarka, this place seems quite upmarket in its feel and ambience. I liked the hanging chandeliers and the wooden panels used to make small cubicals around tables. The place is quite huge and parking is definitely not a problem. Located just below Dwarka Sec-10 metro station, the location is pretty decent.
We were seated pretty swiftly. I liked the way they had laid the covers, especially the mats and the red cut glasses that showed the detailing and their painstaking effort to make the place a kind of a fine dining restaurant. By the way the menu on Zomato is incomplete and does not mention continental mains and the cocktail / beverage menu.
We ordered the much hyped Tandoori platterr, which many foodies found quite heavenly, and chilli fish for starters along with a Cosmopolitan and a Caprioska for drinks. We ordered Crusty fish on mashed potatoes and stuffed chicken breast from the continental mains section. We also ordered corn cheese and jalapeneo rolls
Well the tandoori platter had exactly 6 kebabs, a mockery in the name of a platter, considering that I am paying Rs 450/- plus taxes for the item. Taste wise - average and not heavenly as most foodies had termed it. The Chilli fish tasted great though but small pieces, exactly 6 in number again. The Cosmopolitan could have done with a little more cranberry juice. The caprioska didnt seem to have brown sugar as per the recipe mentioned in the menu. The virgin mojito we ordered was ok
Going to the mains - If you see the pictures I have attached the crusted Fish was fantastic, even though did not have any crust, as the name suggested. But the potato mash just enhanced the taste of the fish. The shocker was the stuffed chicken breast. Only one piece of a small breast with exactly 4 cherry tomatoes and 6 pieces of french fries. Who are you robbing guys. I am certainly not willing to accept that there was only one piece of small chicken breast in one portion. Robbery in broad day light. The breast tasted alright though and the sauce on top of it seemed a mix of barbeque sauce, tomato ketchup and some oregano. Funny that you would use ketchup to make a continental sauce. But the Chicken Thai green curry was fantstic, 2nd best I have had after Thailand. The sesame basil and garlic prawns were too good.
Service is only reason that turned us off, considering that I am paying through my nose for the items, Food taste wise is decent. The staff was courteous too. our server Dharam was very professional and courteous, and I did tell him to let the chef know the portion size fiasco if the chicken breast.
Final Verdict - Drool kitchen - A great concept, with good food roggered by its service.
