Review - Creamy Tomato in Penne recipe kit - www.chefsbasket.in - 4/5

In an era where convenience is the catch word, we all seek it day in and day out. Whether it starts from the coffee maker Ist thing in the morning where one has the convenience of grabbing a hot cuppa coffee without much ado, to making your dinner when you land home late after a long messy day at work. So convenience today is the spice of life.

We buy so much stuff on-line these days, what is that? Its convenience, because neither do we have the time nor the patience to browse various markets physically out in the heat, when its convenient to lie down on your bed with your laptop and order yourself a dinner in advance for the weekend at mid-nightt. Also when one has the convenience of having all ingredients in front of you to make up a healthy meal in a jiffy, the offer is way too tempting, isn't it?

So there I was browsing the net for some interesting food items when I encountered Chef’s basket on http://www.chefsbasket.in and the stuff they sell on-line. The best part is that the pricing is so attractive. You have the luxury to have a fine dine meal in the convenience of your home with a recipe kit containing authentic imported ingredients hand-picked for the recipes. You can choose from Mexican to Italian and even Thai recipe kits.

The story of how Chef's Basket started is pretty cute though. A couple of years back IITB alumni brainstormed and realized that India has a dearth of great and appropriately priced food experiences. Also the food bills we pay to enjoy fine dine meal experiences can be crazy. So there it was Chef’s Basket – the new kid on the block, offering you the fine dine experience of a cuisine you wish right at home.

You can buy their stuff on-line on Amazon and on various retail stores across Maharashtra and Bangalore.  And what's awesome is that you can order a Fusilli to Burritos to Penne to Thai noodles recipe kits to what not. I ordered a Creamy Tomato in Penne recipe kit for myself.

The recipe kit arrived and oh wow! it contained all the ingredients - Pasta, Extra Virgin olive oil for sauteeing the veggies, mixed herbs, pitted Olives and even the rock salt to boil the pasta and the awesome Pasta sauce. The only thing I added was garlic and some fresh Veggies after boiling and sauteeing to my Penne.

I followed the simple instructions mentioned at the back of the recipe box and there it was a beautiful pasta with awesome veggies and a fabulous red sauce. I especially loved the convenience of not having worked hard to blanch and purée so many tomatoes to make a sauce.

The pasta turned out beautiful, saucy, creamy yet subtle and authentic Italian perfect. I strongly recommend you buy their recipe kits on-line and savour some great world cuisine sitting in the convenience of your home. Now this fine dining redefined.
