Zu Tisch : Your Awesome Neighbourhood German Bar - Bistro- 4/5

I know about German Cars, German Foot Ball, Hitler and even German Beer, but do I know about German Food? Well! That’s an unfamiliar territory for me. Delhi, today is a city where restaurateurs are venturing into lesser known cuisines in the attempt to have a different USP. And I am glad most of them have been successful. One such success story for me would be this place Zu Tisch.

The restaurant’s name means “Dinner is served”. Nestled on the 2nd floor above Pita Pit Lounge, this place has fabulous written all over it – from the ambiance, to the food, to the music and to the drinks. A beautifully glamorous staircase makes its way to the restaurant which has been tastefully done in a typical European bar style. Love how the wall's have the German map sketched on them with the names of the various districts. Love the Bar stools and the wooden tables. Love the fact that the menu’s emphasis is clearly on the meats.

The place has some Great seating area and is a fun place to relax after a busy long day or even if your in a playful mood to enjoy some rocking music with some great food and drinks. Awesome lighting and an elaborate tastefully done German Menu coupled with some top notch serving staff Zu Tisch will really sweep you off your feet.

I went on a lazy Sunday afternoon during the Brunch hours and there was live music and some authentic German and European food on the Buffet. I could sight loads of expats enjoying the food as though they had come craving some food that would be reminding them of home and seems this place had earned their love for it. The place was full and bustling with people, so a prior reservation is advised, especially on weekends and public holidays. The staff was very friendly, courteous and welcoming. The food and service was great in terms of taste, quality and speed of preparation and Pricing of food and alcohol is attractive too. Life size portions of food plentiful of German meats and Sausages on the menu and of course, excellent German beer to complement the dishes!

Even though there was a perfect German buffet spread, we decided to settle for a la carte. There is some great German beer on offer on the menu. And since my husband is a big big Beer Fan we unanimously decided to order a Berlin Beer Cocktail which is a total Knock out and went so well with the Pork ribs and the Grilled Mushroom Spedini we had. Another drink that deserves a special mention would be the LIT. Loved especially how this drink is served in a tall measuring Jar reminding me of my Chemistry lectures in School. The food that deserves a special mention would be the Pork ribs, the Cordon Bleu and of course the Lamb Shank with the superb German Potato salad. Even though the place has been there almost for a year, I so regret not having visited sooner.

So this is what we had

Berlin Beer Cocktail : A Rock-star of a cocktail served with a bottle of beer inverted over a Fish bowl. Contains apples, cinnamon, lemon juice and tequila and of course Beer. A must have cocktail for the taste and the Bollywood drama attached with it. My rating 4.75/5

LIT : This drink does not need an introduction. Loved them with slices of orange and the way it was presented in a tall measuring jar. I dare you to finish the whole thing :) My rating 4/5

Pork Ribs :  Crisp outside yet and a tender and smooth inside, glazed with barbecue sauce this dish is definitely a taker. They taste even better if you accompany these with a German beer or their Signature LIT. What I loved about these ribs was that there was not an overdose of Barbecue sauce, hence I could taste the juicy Pork meat. My rating 4.5/5

Grilled Mushroom Spedini : These Chermoula marinated Mushrooms were awesome and loved their presentation on skewers. They were very well accompanied by aioli and tomato Jalapeño Salsa. Loved them. My rating 4/5

Cordon Bleu :  Having heard so much about German Schnitzel's, I decided to order a Cordon Bleu which is a Pan fried Chicken Schnitzel stuffed with Ham and cheese. One hell of a cheezy monster, this dish goes so well with the potato wedges and the LIT. A must have for Chicken lovers. My rating 4.5/5

Lamb Shank : A real life size portion of this monstrous meat for us meat lovers. Served with a German potato Salad which complements the meat oh so well that one just melts at the very sight of this dish. Meat cooked to perfection which falls off the bone. This dish is a sure winner. My rating 4.5/5
