I visited Shawarma house by chance on a warm Sunday afternoon in
Gurgaon. Me and my husband had been house hunting in Gurgaon and needed to
refuel our hungry bellies so we took our car and drove towards Golf course road
and stopped at the complex after the HDFC Bank complex. We somehow unanimously decided
on going to Shawarma house. Seems to be a neat and tidy place, but I recommend
if you live nearby you are better off ordering home delivery rather than deciding
to dine in. They have very limited
seating and it was evident that they mostly thrive on their delivery business.
The order taker seemed to be the owner who recommended we try the
Chicken Shawarma and the Chicken platter. Their credit card machine seemed out
of order and we didn’t mind that though and paid and sat there. Since the they
cook on the same floor behind the counter and the seating space is there itself
it can get a little warm and the cooking definitely interferes with the air-conditioning.
SO if you have driven down to Shawarma house, you’d rather get the food packed
and sit in your car and grab a bite.
We started with the Shawarma first. The Sharawma was nice. The filling
was pretty nice and was loaded with veggies with the chicken. I am no expert on
Lebanese cuisine so would not comment on the authenticity. For me something that
tastes good whether or not its authentic is good enough. So the shawarma passed
the taste test. Next we tried the Chicken platter which had some shredded
chicken along with fries, salad and Hummus. For the price I would have definitely
liked some more chicken in the platter. But the platter on the whole was
wholesome and is a complete meal for a person. Taste wise everything I had here
was pretty nice.
Next time I want to try ordering in food and relishing it much more.
