The Bar Stock Exchange, BKC, Mumbai - 3/5

I am a banker by profession so the idea of a bar on the stock exchange concept really excited me. Even though there is a similar bar in Gurgaon, but so far I haven’t had a single reason to visit and last week I was in Mumbai and was catching up with a few college buddies and since my office was in BKC, we decided to meet up at Bar stock Exchange.

Innovation is the name of the game, and this idea is a superb innovation. They have taken the idea of a Stock exchange quite literally. I can just say Hats off to the idea. Ordering at TBSE is so much fun and super exciting. You can simply leave your office, raid the place with your colleagues and get ready to have alcohol almost as good as MRP. Isn't that great. Which place does that. If you have been an economic student you would understand that the place works on a demand and supply ratio. The drinks which are more in demand cost obviously more and the ones which aren’t come at throw away prices. BKC has a large catchment of office goers who are looking at hitting a bar after a long day of work and the place has some bar’s in five star hotels which most of us may want to pass since they are beyond the reach of our pockets, TBSE fills this void of office goers like us.

The regular paper menu is transformed into an android or a ios based digital menu with a dynamic pricing and the prices are governed by demand and supply. The concept of fluctuating prices keeps you glued to the place and you become sort of a Loyalist to the place. There are LCD screens and neon displays highlighting the menu, and the going rates of various drinks. This concept so far has definitely been a crowd puller at TBSE because I realized the place was packed even on a Tuesday night.

The place is dimly lit but pretty vibrant with a huge bar counter which has LCD screens and Neon display on top and both outside and inside seating areas. You can sit by the bar place your order and surprisingly even order some great food. Even though the outside seating may become claustrophobic and sweaty since Mumbai is humid, the experience is still not a bad one. I recommend you go for the inside seating if you really want full value of your TBSE experience.

Along with the drinks, the food definitely deserves a special mention, even though the service can be a little slow. The food has great portions and is very reasonably priced, tastes fabulous too.

We were three of us and we ordered 2 portions of loaded veg Nacho’s which by the way were one of the best I have ever had. We also ordered a portion of superbly tasty Thai Basil Chicken. Loved the subtle basil and Kaffir lime flavor in it. I also ordered some chilli corn cheese balls which were heavenly too. Topped it with a portion of mustard fish which was soft and had that subtle mustard flavor which went well with my Cosmopolitan. My friends had 2 pints of corona and 6 100 pipers. Would you believe the bill was not even 3000/-.

TBSE is one place I strongly recommend if you are looking at good food and moderately priced drinks and an enjoyable time.
