Mamagoto is all about Fun that’s why their tag line says "fun Asian eating." Mamagoto in Japanese literally means “To play with food”. Even though the food is traditional & authentic, the place is Modern, Colourful, Funky, cool, fun & quirky in its setting. The designs used in the ambiance are Manga based. Manga are famous Japanese Comics loved by all age groups. I'd however say the ambience wins over the food at Mamagoto, even though the food is quite splendid as well.
The place according to me is a complete package if anyone’s looking at a casual dining experience in a great ambiance savouring some great food at fairly ok prices. Located in the DLF Promenade, the place is quite a treat for asian food lovers who can enjoy both alfresco and inside seating. The ambiance is oh so colourful, they have a beautiful bar in the restaurant and the entire place has such a warm vibrant feel to it that it just lightens up your senses. We thought the prices were on the higher side, but the quantity, taste and quality compensates for that and the fact that most main courses can feed a family.
Menu is oh so vast. In terms of variety in the menu, we had nothing to complain about. The food is mainly of Asian origin imbibing influence from Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisine. The food is not traditionally authentic, its asian fusion, that the promoters say they have tried to incorporate from their extensive travels in the menu. The fact that no MSG is added in any of their dishes is truly amazing. What’s even great are the portion sizes of all items on the menu.
I was at a Zomato foodies meet up when I was introduced to Mamagoto and even though this review comes after a couple of months later, I can still not stop raving about the great evening that was filled with some great food and super efficient service staff. I met some wonderful people and savoured some great food too.
This is what I had and loved almost everything. I would not be rating the dishes on a 5 point scale, because its not fair since this was an invite and I was invited by Zomato for a meet up. Coming to the food this is what I had and thoroughly enjoyed. Only writing the must haves.
