Cafe Mehran is a very well maintained cafe in the heart of Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. You must take a pitstop at the cafe to refuel yourself, since it’s a long steep climb up to the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur. This place is royalty personified. I simply loved the place for its ambiance, for the courteous and polished and well cultured staff, I almost felt like royalty myself in the cafe.
The place is decorated with the paintings of the Royal's and the previous Kings of Jodhpur, from the Jodhpur dynasty. The paintings of Maharaja Gaj Singh and his predecessors stand boldly on the walls. The place is quite a sight, painted in pure white with hints of lemon. Confident, turbaned, uniformed, well cultured staff to greet you, you actually feel you are dining at a palace.
We ordered a fresh lime soda, a chicken burger and a grilled Chicken Ham, Gherkin and olive sandwich. The chicken Burger was served with fries and some fresh Green Salad. The Chicken Burger was nice, just that I felt the bun quality could have been better. The fresh lime with Schweppes soda was perfect. And the Sandwich was loaded with fresh Chicken Ham and nice Gherkins and fresh Olives. Simply loved the sandwich which was served with fries and salad.
Sam’s recommendation whenever you are in Jodhpur, firstly you must visit Cafe Mehran, and secondly you when you visit Mehrangarh fort, you must visit Cafe Mehran.
